Pico Bayard Mini Computer Is Ingenious
Monday, November 30th, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

The Pico Bayard designed by Jeffrey Stephenson is a smart gadget with dual functionalitya hybrid computer and a digital photo frame rolled into one neat looking package. It is a shade taller than your can of coca cola, and houses a 1GHz VIA C7 processor, along with 1GB DDR2 memory. It is inspired from the mantle clock design of Bayard, a French clockmaker.
Additional features of this interesting computer include Wi-Fi (adjustable antenna at the rear), EarthLCD 8 touchscreen, and an 80W picoPSU. We cant stop praising the design, though. The chrome accents on the sides catch our attention, in particular. Vents are provided at the top for air circulation, preventing potential CPU damage due to overheating. We say, thats quite thoughtful, considering the size of this midget device. Special credit to the designer for his dexterity, too, for the Pico Bayard was built with just a cordless drill, custom made jigs, and Johnsons paste wax. Quite simple for a state-of-the-art device we must say! If you are interested in this desktop miniature computer, you should perhaps get in touch with Jeffrey.

iMac computer desk

Gérard from The Netherlands has a sleek solution for his iMac.
“My Apple iMac obstructed our dinner table for a year. My wife did not make much of it. To please her I did a little Ikea hacking. I bought a Ludvig Laptop shelf/charging station. And a Ludvig Router/modem wall cabinet. I used the wall cabinet as computer stand and the laptop shelf for my keyboard and mouse. Both Ludvigs have nice compartments for various stuff (Hard drives, headset, DVDs etc.) The set is complemented with a Vitamin stool. When not in use the shelf is put to rest and the computer is not in the way. I think it is a nice hack and my wife is pleased. Mission accomplished.”

Antonius cable manager

Tom found an alternative to the Signum cable manager. His uses the Antonius clothes hanger. If you don’t have a lot of cables, this could be ideal.
“I recently found a nifty solution for the crippling problem of cable management. It might not be suitable for super computers but it does work for my desk. It was built by screwing Ikea Antonius coat hangers to the underside of the desk using long enough wood screws. To give it a bit of stability, I used a hollow tube (like piping cut to length) for the hangers to sit on.”

The E-Ball is a sphere shaped computer concept which is the smallest design among all the laptops and desktops have ever made. This PC concept features all the traditional elements like mouse, keyboard, large screen display, DVD recorder, etc, all in an innovative manner. E-Ball is designed to be placed on two stands, opens by simultaneously pressing and holding the two buttons located on each side. After opening the stand and turning ON the PC, pressing the detaching mouse button will allow you to detach the optical mouse from the PC body. This concept features a laser keyboard that can be activated by pressing the particular button.

Theres no external display unit, a projector will pop up by pressing and holding the button and focus the computer screen on the wall which can be adjusted with navigation buttons. If there is no wall around, the paper sheet holder, divides into three pieces like an umbrella just after popping up, will help to focus the desktop on a paper sheet.
The software interface of E-Ball is highly stylized with icons that can be remembered easily, and is user friendly. This compact PC will be ideal for use when working in office, making video presentations, watching large screen movies, listening music and chatting on the net.
