Eventually, we’ll be squeezing renewable energy out of every possible source we can – especially from rooftops in urban areas. Adobe Systems is at the forefront of this trend, having just installed building integrated wind turbines atop its headquarters in downtown San Jose, CA. Their 20 new Windspirevertical axis turbines are affixed on the 6th floor of the parking garage of their office complex, which also happens to be LEED certified. The electricity generated from the turbines will eventually power an electric vehicle charging station in the garage below as well as the famous San Jose Semaphore!

Contemporary Design Home in New Mexico

Friday, January 22nd, 2010 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

New Mexico almost has its own style when it comes to color, building materials and house plans. This home in New Mexico has embraced more contemporary design elements than many of the traditional houses that make the state famous for architecture. The first striking element is the varied use of colors on the outside of the home itself.Often in more traditional New Mexico architecture only one color appears on the outside and that color usually is not far from the color of adobe. The contemporary theme is carried into the home interior as well. The floor, walls and furniture have a more updated look and the furniture is less colorful than many “Southwestern Style” fabric patterns.Via.

A Separate Reality: Digital Art by Alex Andreyev

Sunday, December 20th, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

Street lights that look like serpents about to strike. Strange, floating platforms for homes and parks hovering above the clouds. Pet spiders the size of dogs. Surreal battle scenes in Matrix-like compounds. Welcome to the separate reality of digital artist Alex Andreyev, who creates what he calls hermetic art.

While Andreyevs personal art is indeed replete with esoteric imagery that perhaps isnt meant to be understood by the viewer, the Russian artist also occasionally has a story to work withsuch as in his illustrations for the books The Invincible and Eden by Polish sci-fi author Stanislaw Lem, or his concept art for the animated movie Kin-Dza-Dza.

Threaded through each of his paintings is a pervasive foreboding that culminates, finally, in a quiet sense of horror. Lights on towering spires of scaffolding peeking through the fog next to slum rockets are strange, but the sight of a giant cocoon in a subway is downright terrifying.

Of his style, Andreyev says, I tried various techniques, including traditional inks, pens, brushes and also experimented with digital art. Now I use Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter, just brushes, no fancy stuff or filters. By using limited toolset I am able to achieve stylistic consistency throughout my artwork.

I focus more on expression of my creative concepts than on technology or tools. While working in digital medium, I am free of limitations of traditional tools, such as drying of oil paint, changing of gouache color or etching line width.

Photoshop on iPhone: How Cool Is It Really?

Saturday, October 17th, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

While we had recently spoken about how Adobe and Apple agreed to let Flash Content be available on the iPhone, you could now access Photoshop too and you must have learned this by now already. While Photoshop Mobile for iPhone and iPod Touch was released a few days ago, many users have felt that the striped version of Photoshop isn’t as great as the real deal.

One could certainly crop images, add minor effects, rotate, flip, and also add saturation and tint to your images among the other effects. You must have also learned by now that you would get a free online storage of 2GB with the Photoshop Mobile app, which can be downloaded for free in U.S. and Canada. However, after using the app for a couple of days, users have begun to feel the lack of tools that one could expect in other mobile image editing tools.

You may perhaps be able to edit a picture better on a Nokia N series phone than on an iPhone in spite of Photoshop Mobile being made available. However an equal number of people have also liked the idea of finally being able to edit images at least in certain aspects. One could heave a sigh of relief that we can at last edit images and post them online or share with friends right from the iPhone, and of course, it was high time this happened!

CS5 Flash iPhone Applications Can Finally Be Developed for the iPhone

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

iPhone might be the most appealing and appreciated piece of gadget in recent times but most people have complained about the Smartphones inability to support Adobe Flash. Flash Player had been banned from Apple iPhone, as Steve Jobs claimed that Flash reduces the performance of the chic Smartphone.

While Adobe and Apple had been wrangling about the decision to let or not let Flash on iPhone, Apple has finally relented and allowed Flash developers to craft iPhone applications using Flash Professional CS5. The forthcoming Flash Professional CS5 would allow developers to create interactive, rich, and visually appealing applications for iPhone and iPod Touch but nevertheless, they aren’t exactly Flash applications.

I guess it was high time iPhone users got to use Flash based apps and browse Flash rich content on their Smartphone. While Apple and Adobe continue to disagree about each others’ positions, Flash developers and iPhone users seem to have gained a lot more than could be imagined. While the biggies battle it out, you can express your support to Flash developers by getting yourself an Adobe Flash T-Shirt.

Back in the good old days, I never used to get bored playing the time pass game called Space Invaders, and now the ever evil protagonists, the Blingvaders are back in action and aim to invade to your fashion desk. These pendants which are made up of zinc plated iron sheets are available in choices of either gold or silver plating to suite your style.

Well, this, I admit, isnt the perfect item for fashionistas out there, but, you must admit, this sure is retro cool. Each blingvader pendant, which is 8 cm x 6.15 cm and about 63 gm in weight, is shipped along with a steel chain of 75 cm in length. The product is up for grabs for a price of Australian $30 (which roughly amounts to about $28 USD) and is available worldwide, where in, the nominal shipping charges are to be bored by the buyer.

Other stuff the geeky fashion freaks will surely fall in for are Geeky Computer Keyboard Jewelry and Adobe File Extension Pendants.

Cool iPhone Icons Button Set

The iPhone mania has taken over the world like a wild fire, and practically one out of every ten things in the market has something to do with the iPhone, it’s like the phone in itself has become a brand. The creators of this new item, which I call the iButtons, have not let out any opportunity to capitalize on this new product. The iPhone Icons themed buttons are really cool and geeky at the same time.

A set of ten buttons, each of them represent one standard icon from the iPhone which include the clock, calculator, safari, iTunes, text, music, iPod, phone, mail and photos. The whole set is really fun and do perfectly suit the geeky uniform. They might become the most casual way to shout out loud to the crowd that you own an iPhone, whether it be at the work place or at the park, these buttons will make sure that people realize that you love your iPhone.

Selling for only $10.00 from Interesting Lee, who also brought the Adobe CS3 Icons Buttons set, the whole set can be a perfect present for anyone or a way to make others feel jealous of your priced possession , either way works great. You should probably also check out the cool new iPhone sleeve that is an illusion of the phone itself!.

The iFever might probably stay on for a long while, even more than expected, that tells me that we could be expecting more of such stuff that make up our iLife so wonderful.
