In a freshly released report on Tuesday, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) stated that 2000-2009 was the warmest decade ever on record. While the WMO has warned the world about this dire situation before, this new analysis further confirms the urgency and need for us to take action. The agency’s findings arrived in time to counteract the scrutiny of global warming deniers who have been increasingly more vocal as the COP15 conference to fight the effects of climate change commenced in Copenhagen.

Stolmen post room divider

Thursday, December 17th, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

Very clever use of the Stolmen poles to create a room divider. Kudos, Andrew!
“An Ikea hack I just completed in order to create a partition in my studio apartment in Greenwich Village.
I used two Stolmen posts as the spine for this partition composed of 8 bowed spars I designed and built across which will be stretched over by a large canvas drop-cloth. The aim was to create a partition for the studio to preserve a separate sleeping area without leaving any trace on the walls, ceiling or floor.

It’s actually quite sturdy and we will eventually hang a painting on it.”
I’ve just realised (quite recently, duh!) that embedded videos, don’t turn up on some feeds. So just for you guys reading this post on a reader, click here to view the video.

The climate talks continue to heat up as protesters attempted to gate crash the conference this morning in Copenhagen. The Danish police used less than friendly tactics to keep the activists away — tear gas and batons — and 250 have been arrested. Organized by Climate Justice Action and Climate Justice Now!, the rally was an attempt to bring attention to the fact that world leaders have still not settled whether industrialized countries will agree to strict limitations on carbon emissions and how these countries will help developing nations to to cope with climate change.

Camouflaged Supercars: From Lambos To Rambos

Thursday, December 17th, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

If the point of driving a supercar is to be seen to best advantage, then the owners of these 10 camouflaged ultimate automobiles are doing it wrong. Then again, “stealth” is a relative term – and one of the best ways to stand out from the crowd is to blend right in.

Lamborghini Countach

Supercars like the Lamborghini Countach often take their styling cues from cutting edge military vehicles, including fighter jet aircraft. With that in mind, camouflage paint jobs aren’t all that odd and may even improve the looks of some cars in the minds of some onlookers. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course, but when the car in question is a Countach it’s hard to make it look anything but gorgeous.

Lamborghini Gallardo, Part 1

This Lamborghini Gallardo comes from Sweden and its camo paint job helps it meld with the prevailing shades of a typical Scandinavian winter. One would hope the owner (Swedish pro skier Jon Olsson) respects the road conditions in winter solstice Sweden or his ride may meld a little more than he would like. The matching roof box is a nice touch by the way – it may not do much for the Gallardo’s aerodynamic profile but where else are you going to stow the skis?

Here’s another Lamborghini Gallardo, this time dressed to kill for the 2004 Gumball 3000. This Rambo Lambo was back for the 2006 edition of the race (center, above) but is shown without the sponsor ad stickers – definitely a cleaner look.

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

A real estate agent in Wiesbaden, Germany, must be doing very well in a down housing market to be driving a late-model Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. Then again, when one’s income depends on commissions it doesn’t pay to display conspicuous consumption. The answer? Give your ride the vinyl wrap treatment in delicious Chocolate Chip camo. If this particular Prancing Horse wasn’t General ‘Stormin’ Norman” Schwartzkopf’s Gulf War ride, it damned well should have been.
