Vintage, Working Lighter Cufflinks
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

If you only have one chance to impress on a first date, you’re probably looking for a sharp suit, a sleek pair of shoes, an exquisite watch and an expensive bottle of cologne. But if you’re not only trying to look nice but actually get the conversation started, these Vintage Lighter Cufflinks will get the job done for you. Once dispensed in gumball machines some 50 years ago, these cufflinks have a bullet back enclosure and are attached to real working lighters that any collector would appreciate. At $40, it’s probably the coolest pair of cufflinks we’ve seen in a long time, but you’ll have to remember not to set yourself on fire… Definitely worth it! [via TheAwesomer]

Octagon: the Cellhone With A Sharp Edge
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off
A multipurpose cellphone is very essential in today’s ever pacing world, for as something to stand by your side all the time in order to help you get in touch with your friends, family and rarely your Boss, it also helps you to share your world with other people through it’s various multimedia functions, no wonder that they are called PDAs. This new cellphone design combines all these functionalities with a wide variety of specifications into the sturdy geometric shape of an OCTAGON, a design by Nick Core.

The user interface and the applications are very similar to the widely popular iPhone but it has been artistically packed into the eight sided cutting edge design of Octagon. The design has a very original feel to it but it slightly resembles the Prism, still the design is pretty impressive. The dimensions of the eight sides have been well modified to suit the specifications of a phone which makes it very handy and unique.

As you can see, the application software looks similar to the iPhone, the main idea behind the phone is it’s unique design structure. The sleek and black body has an impressive impact on the looks of the phone, giving it an edge over the rest.

The phone has a very manly felling feeling to it, the sharp edges and the sleek body are made to suit he needs of a real man so why not check out some classy phones, made specially as a Women Cellphone, for the softer section of the community.

Jaw-Dropping Works of Light Art & Photographic Graffiti
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

A lone figure stands in an eerie green landscape with long beams of shimmering light seemingly emanating from his body. In another image, a neon-colored UFO spins above a muted creek at twilight. Though they seem impossible, these strange, surreal and otherworldly photographs were taken with a conventional camera and have not been digitally manipulated.

As fantastic as fireworks and creative as fine art paintings, these images are stunning examples of light graffiti, an art form in which light sources are used to paint a picture, captured on film using long exposures and slow shutter speeds.

Light graffitialso known as light paintingcomes in a wide array of forms, from cartoons and creatures to shapes that highlight architectural details in urban environments. But these images, by German duo Jan Wöllert and Jörg Miedza of Light Art Performance Photography (LAPP), take that concept a step further, using light and a series of carefully choreographed movements to create complex forms.

Many of the images created by LAPP consist of up to 20 steps, each designed to achieve a certain effect that contributes to the cohesive final image which is captured on a tripod-mounted 21.1 megapixel EOS 5D Mark II camera triggered with a remote control. Some of these images require exposures that go beyond 60 minutes.

Miedza and Wöllert use fireworks, flashlights, light sticks and specially developed light tools to draw in the air while completing the choreography that will result in the final image. The duo describes their work as the evolution of light drawing. Wöllert dreams up their creative ideas while Miedza is the technical genius, figuring out which steps are required for the desired outcome.
Iron Island Sink By Kohler

An island sink and a design statement in one is what the Iron/Occassions Island Sink by Kohler has. Made of 93 percent recycled and reclaimed material, the sink is guaranteed to be sturdy and free from crack or burn. The cast iron of the sink is covered with enamel making it easy to clean. The sink also has an integrated top and bowl aside from the sleek island sink, and the size it has, which is 30 x 60 inches provides enough space for any activity that the user might do. In addition to that, the trough skin in the center is eight inched wide and four inches deep, which huge enough for washing purposes. Looks like custom made, the sink also has storage underneath that is obviously as huge as the island. -via

Bio-Fuel Growing Eco Pods Rejuvenate Stalled Boston Project
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments Off

Halted in November 2008, mid-construction, the Filene development in downtown Boston is currently barely even a shell of a building. The bones of the building are up, but sub street level a giant hole leaves a gouge in the city’s plan. Undaunted, Höweler + Yoon Architecture and Squared Design teamed up to design a vertical tower of prefabricated “eco pods” filled with bio-fuel producing algae for the space. The new tower would act as a center to test new algae species and different growing methods.
